Make a difference in your community by coming alongside SS. Monica & Luke in Gary, Indiana. We host several church activities each month to give people the opportunity to be of service to others.
On Fridays, we host a soup kitchen from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. This is where we serve God and others by preparing and serving plates of food. This is open to anyone who is in need and no one is turned away.
We also host a food pantry on the third Saturday of each month. During this time, people come in and get perishable and nonperishable items, including a selection of two or three different meats and other canned goods and vegetables.
Food pantry and soup kitchen donation collections are part of the third Sunday collection. This is a separate offering than the regular offering.
On January 16, 2015, St. Monica Federal Credit Union will celebrate the 63rd Anniversary of the dated letter of approval to operate a federal credit union in the state of Indiana, in the city of Gary.
Almost sixty-three years ago, eight parishioners of St. Monica Catholic Church were willing to risk all, by signing on as incorporators of the FIRST BLACK FEDERAL CREDIT UNION in the state of Indiana and the city of Gary. Though we celebrate our past, we look forward to serving another 63 years, along with all the challenges that this still new century presents.
